About the Barbers

Headhunters Barber Shop was established in 1981 by brothers Gordon and Nigel Johnston and is renowned for traditional barbering with every ‘wee man’ or gent who steps through the door welcomed literally with open arms!

Stories are recalled about the good old days of steam travel and the customers are well accustomed to special visitors and camera crews dropping in, such as Gloria Hunniford, Richard Wilson, Adrian Dunbar, Rob Bell, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Eric Monkman and Bobby Seagull.

The barbers is now a family experience and waiting for a haircut is an absolute pleasure, when you can walk around the museum while you wait your turn.

Celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2021, Nigel and Gordon continue to enjoy barbering and meeting their customers, some of which have been attending regularly since they opened in 1981.

They pride themselves that they are working on a third generation of customers, many still recalling their childhood visits to the barber with their father, leaving home for University and returning back to the County again to settle down, having a family and keeping the tradition going by bringing along their own son to Headhunters for a haircut.
